MTN and Nexford University build global online classroom

Nigeria’s biggest telecommunications network and Nexford join forces to give MTN sponsored data to Nigerian online learners

The move – which aims to get young Nigerians using their time in lockdown to get better qualified and improve their job prospects – represents the start of a newly formed collaboration between Nexford University and MTN.

As an organization that has committed to improving the quality of life in sub-Saharan Africa, MTN’s mission dovetails neatly with Nexford’s quest to enable socio-economic mobility around the world through education.

The pair are giving 7.5GB data every month for six months to every learner who enrolls on one of Nexford’s programs. Would-be learners can choose from the Associate of Applied Science in Business (AAS), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), or shorter certificates in business-related fields.

It is not the first time Nexford has collaborated with an organization aligned to its mission. Previously, the American university has partnered with IBM, Sterling Bank and Africa’s Young Entrepreneurs. Through other Nexford partnerships, Nexford learners will enjoy free access to LinkedIn Learning and IBM’s Digital – Nation Africa.

Olamidun Majekodunmi, Nexford’s Nigerian country manager says: “As the Coronavirus lockdown sees a massive spike in the amount of data Nigerians are consuming, we know many of them are looking for affordable ways to stay connected, engaged and productive. With MTN sponsored data, our learners have 24/7 access to their classmates in every corner of the world, and the very latest world-class business thinking, without ever leaving their home.”

Prospective learners must make their move before June 23:
