Trees are our friends; they need our protection as much as we need theirs. We need to constantly remind ourselves that we would not be able to survive without them.
When we launched we committed to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #4: Quality Education. Today we are renewing that commitment and also committing to SDG #13: Climate Action.
According to the World Resources Institute, more than 80% of Earth's original forests have already been destroyed. Over 80,000 acres of forests disappear from Earth every day. A variety of factors contribute to deforestation, and humans are one of them.
We want our learners to be empowered this includes a responsibility to protect our planet. We believe that while creating is important, it’s equally important to leave the earth better than we found it.

- Benefits: Animal nutrition, beekeeping, land reclamation, wood for construction
- Details: Newtonia buchananii is planted as a shade tree in coffee, tea and cocoa plantations; the crown gives a rather light shade. It is planted along rivers in order to stabilize the banks. The flowers are a good source of nectar and pollen for bees. The tree can grow from 10 - 40 metres tall, and is valued for its wood and so is commonly harvested from the wild, mainly for local use.

Fight global warming
Trees help cool the planet by sucking in and storing harmful greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide into their trunks, branches, and leaves — and releasing oxygen back into the atmosphere.
Social impact
From loggers to researchers, the job opportunities provided by the forestry industry are endless. Close to 1.6 billion people in the world depend on forests for their livelihood. Sustainable tree farming also provides materials to build homes and shelters, and wood to burn for cooking and heating.
Wildlife
Trees provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity, including insects, fungi, moss, mammals, and plants. Without trees, they would have nowhere to call home.
Improve health
Trees help reduce stress and anxiety, and allow us to reconnect with nature. Their shade helps protect our skin from the ever-increasing harshness of the sun. Plus, forests are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Ever taken an Aspirin? It comes from the bark of the willow tree!

Trees play a key role in capturing rainwater and reducing the risk of natural disasters like floods and landslides.

Our Partners
Usambara Biodiversity Conservation & Tree-nation
We’ve partnered with Tree-nation and Usambara Biodiversity Conversation in Tanzania to plant trees in an effort to fight against climate change. The conversation specializes in preserving biodiversity in the Eastern Arc Mountains rain forest is the primary goal of this project. Additionally, key issues to be addressed are reversing the serious deforestation around Forest Nature Reserve, a critical need for woods and construction materials, the need for environmental conservation education, and extreme poverty alleviation through agroforestry.
