Hear from a Nexford Parent
As a lawyer and an entrepreneur in Nigeria, I am hopeful that my daughter will emulate my business success. That meant giving her the best start possible which is why, amongst other reasons, I chose to enroll her at Nexford University. Her personal safety by learning online, the ease and speed of the enrolment process, and the support she received from the get go from a Nexford Success Advisor made me realize that I made the right choice.

Testimonials
Our Nigerian learner feedback says it all

My learning experience and NXU has been amazing. I did not expect it to be this engaging, practical and mind reading. Even though I study from my room, I have a global network of friends all over the world. I have friends in India, Egypt and Indonesia.
And with the high rates of insecurities in Nigeria, it is a privilege to be able to study from the comfort of my own home without having to worry about anything but my studies.

Admissions & Eligibility
How do I apply?
Applying is easy! Once you've decided on the program you want, and read up on the admissions criteria, head to apply.nexford.org to start your application. If you have everything ready, it should take you seven minutes (or faster!) to complete the form.
Download our step-by-step guide to understand what you need to do to complete your Nexford application and give yourself the best chance of acceptance.
Can I apply for an MBA if I don't have a university degree?
You'll need an undergraduate degree to apply for the MBA program. Nexford University accepts applications globally. We understand that your qualification may not specifically say that you hold a bachelor's degree in your country, but it may be equivalent to a US Bachelor's degree. We'll be happy to have your credential reviewed! Get in touch with our Admissions team to know if you are qualified: admissions@nexford.org
However, your degree or qualification doesn't need to be in business.
If you have a degree in another discipline, you'll take four 6-8 week Advanced Business Foundation courses. Here, you'll learn the baseline business skills you need for our broader MBA. Upon successful completion, start taking MBA core courses.
If you have studied business before, you'll enter straight into the MBA and start taking your core courses.
What supporting documents do I need to apply?
The documents needed to apply vary by program level. For all programs, you need to submit a government issued identification and passport-style “selfie".
If you're applying for an undergraduate program, you may need to provide proof you've graduated secondary (high) school or earned a GED, by submitting a transcripts, or in countries that require a national examination, submit the results (WAEC, IGCSE or NECO).
If you're applying for a graduate program, you'll also need to provide a copy of your undergraduate transcript. If the transcript is not in English, you will need to submit an official translation.
At Nexford, you may start learning after you apply and will have 60 days from enrollment start date to submit official copies of academic credentials.
You may also be required to submit an official copy of your English proficiency certificate should our Admissions Team be unable to verify your institution’s/school’s language of instruction.
How do I upload my photo ID?
You can take a photo with your smartphone, or scan it in. Make sure your photo ID:
- Shows your most recent legal name Is valid within the past two years
- Is written in English (although we can translate in-house at no cost!) We can process your application quickest if you upload your passport.
We also accept national identity cards (but as we have to translate them, it might slow things down)
Having difficulties uploading your photo ID? Check out Section ‘1.6 Proof of Identity’ of our guide.
My NIN slip was rejected, what other options do I have?
Nigerian applicants can provide a digital copy of their National ID by verifying it on the National Identification Commission Mobile App (download for Android and iOS)
Applicants with NIN slips should download the National Identification Commission Mobile app and verify ID using their National Identification Number (picking the option of ‘Full ID’). This allows the applicant to derive relevant information such as their full names and date of birth.
After verification of the ID is complete, applicants can screenshot and send Nexford Admissions a copy as their government-issued ID. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like if done successfully.
What does the English language test involve?
Good question! The English language assessment is designed to test your understanding, reading and listening. We're looking for a minimum score – we want to check you'll succeed at Nexford.

- Evidence you've worked at an English-speaking country
- A certificate from a university.
Can I apply for a bachelor’s program if I haven't graduated from high school yet?

Do I need to have work experience to apply?
No. If you have work experience, that's great, but you don't need it. Nexford's programs are practical, which means you'll gain on-the-job skills while you learn. If you do have work experience, we won't be able to offer credit just yet. We want everyone to start their program on a level playing field – that includes taking the same core courses and building the same foundational skills.

Nexford University
Will employers recognize my MBA degree?
- It should be accepted in the US as we are nationally accredited in the US by Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). DEAC is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a recognized accrediting agency and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- We also hold an accreditation with a UK-based organization called ASIC (Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities) and this is specifically accrediting distance education providers or online universities like Nexford University.
- Acceptance of your degree from NXU is still dependent on the receiving organization. It is the sole discretion of the receiving institution/employer whether or not they will accept the degree that you will get at any university.
- What we ensure is that you can stand out in a competitive job market. We utilize competency-based education to ensure you are able to apply your knowledge to real-world situations rather than just spending time memorizing theory. You'll have a capacity to adapt and pivot, and walk away with highly portable skills.
Where is Nexford University’s campus located?
Nexford is 100% online, with a headquarters in Washington DC. We have no campus. Having a Nexford campus would increase our costs and, therefore, we would need to raise your tuition. Our learners are our main concern. We keep our operating costs low by being a 100% online, next-generation university. This way, we don’t need to maintain expensive classroom buildings, a campus you don’t need and other expensive add-ons.
Can I get a visa to travel abroad with Nexford?
We're based in Washington DC, and we're 100% online. That means you have the freedom to study from your home country and graduate with an American degree. You're welcome to study in the US, but unfortunately, we're not able to help with your travels or visa.
All Nexford learners have the chance to join our graduation ceremony in Washington DC, where you can celebrate with learners and faculty. Nexford University can provide you with a letter stating that you are indeed an enrolled learner at our university and have completed your degree requirements.
The letter will also state that we are holding a graduation ceremony in Washington DC, where we are licensed and based. You may use that letter to apply for a visit visa to attend the ceremony.
What is the university experience at Nexford like?
Nexford's learning experience is unlike any other. Think engaging, interactive online learning that helps you gain the skills you need – fast.
Our online learning environment contains everything you need to learn at Nexford. It's where you'll take courses, chat with peers, submit assignments, receive feedback, track your grades, and access your faculty's calendars to book one-on-one sessions. It's also where you'll manage your enrollment, add courses, and pay your tuition.
You'll get access to your modules through Canvas, a learning management platform, and you can even take your learning wherever you go with the Canvas mobile app. Module materials include reading, videos, interactive elements, quizzes, and relevant case studies.
Live lectures are done by faculty once every two weeks or more often. Don't worry, these sessions are entirely optional, and you don't have to wait for them to progress in your learning or course — everything you need to complete your projects, assignments, or assessments is available through your modules.
Assessments are weekly, and you must meet assessment and project deadlines to progress seamlessly. We recommend you allocate a minimum of 15-20 hours per week to your learning at your most convenient time to achieve this. If you need additional support, our Learner Success team is available 24/7. They will also help you with transitioning to online studies, creating your study timeline, and goal setting.
Overwhelmed? Don't be! You'll get a full tour of the learning environment during orientation. You're in safe hands with us.
Are you accredited by National Universities Commission (NUC)?
NUC currently does not recognize nor have any regulatory cover for foreign universities or fully online universities. To put it into perspective, just the same way NUC can’t accredit a traditional American university which is outside of NUC’s jurisdiction, it also can’t accredit Nexford University. This may affect Nexford bachelor’s degree graduates who are looking to pursue NYSC, although graduates of Nexford University are still eligible to apply for a certificate of exclusion which is an official NYSC certificate.
